In-house leadershipModernizing Vivint's enterprise data platform
- 200+
- internal data consumers served
- SQL→❄
- full SQL Server to Snowflake migration
- 3+ yrs
- of platform leadership
The challenge
Vivint's legacy SQL Server estate had been outgrown by the business: performance ceilings, scaling costs, and an architecture that made every new data request an engineering project. Hundreds of internal consumers — from operations to executives — depended on the platform daily, so modernization couldn't interrupt the business that ran on it.
How we approached it
- 1
Led a full re-architecture of the data platform, migrating from SQL Server to Snowflake with performance, scalability, and cost efficiency as explicit design goals.
- 2
Implemented governance frameworks so reliable, consistent data could be safely opened up to a much wider internal audience.
- 3
Optimized pipelines and streamlined BI delivery, cutting the path from raw data to decision-ready reporting.
- 4
Partnered directly with business leaders to translate operational needs into data solutions rather than tickets.
The outcome
The modernized platform expanded reliable data access to more than 200 internal consumers and improved decision-making speed across the company. This is the migration playbook — archaeology, staged cutover, governance — that we now run for clients.
